The fatal crash happened at 7:10 p.m. in the 2400 block of Ritner Street in the city's Third District, according to Philadelphia police.
A 64-year-old woman was standing at the bus stop when a black Ford F-150 backed onto the pavement and hit her, authorities said. She was rushed to Methodist Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:33 p.m.
The driver, a 58-year-old man, was taken into custody at the scene, police said.
The area remains blocked off as investigators process the scene.
